What's in the Bag?

Paying attention to what you place in your purse, diaper bag or overnight suitcase can be a critical safety factor when you are going to be around children. You may carry medicines and other substances in these containers, then place them within easy reach of young children.

Some of the substances commonly found in purses and bags that are often associated with childhood poisoning include the following:

  • Chewable vitamins with iron

  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol)

  • Decongestant cough and cold medications

  • Tobacco products
