June 5, 2023 – Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) has announced the organization’s 2023 Star of Life honorees. The Star of Life program highlights individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, courage and skill in emergency medical services (EMS).

“The Star of Life recognition honors the contributions of team members and shines a light on the critical role EMS plays in our healthcare infrastructure,” said President and CEO Johna Easley. “These recipients exemplify the highest standards of excellence in the EMS profession with their unwavering commitment to saving lives and delivering compassionate care.”

EMSA Advantage Instructor Michael Wilson, a part of EMSA since 2016, has been instrumental in developing the skills of new EMS recruits through EMSA first ever in-house EMT school, EMSA Advantage. He employs adaptive teaching methods to cater to individual learning styles, ensuring that recruits are well-mentored and educated to best serve Oklahomans.

2023 EMSA Administration Star of Life Sharrie Barnes

Sharrie Barnes, Patient Business Services Supervisor for billing has worked at EMSA since 2014. Sharrie played a pivotal role in keeping the department on track and successfully achieving department goals. Her exceptional organizational skills and leadership ensured operations functioned successfully.

EMSA’s Star of Life recipients will be recognized later this year at the Oklahoma Ambulance Association’s Stars of Life event in Tulsa. Honorees will also be celebrated in Washington, D.C., at the American Ambulance Association in November.
