Preventing Falls Going From Bed to Bathroom

Going from the bed to the bathroom during the night is a primary risk. You should have a nightlight that casts a pool of light along the bedside and the path to the bathroom. When you awake, sit up slowly to prevent dizziness. Stay seated for a few seconds to ensure you have your bearings. If you wear glasses or use a cane or walker during the day, use these to make even this short trip.

Make sure there aren't magazines or newspapers discarded by the bed that could cause you to slip.
