OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (September 19, 2024) – One-of-a-kind EMS training has arrived at EMSA with the launch of EMSA SimTEP – Simulation Training for EMS Professionals. Revolutionizing EMS training at EMSA, SimTEP will transform the way Paramedics and EMTs prepare to respond to patients experiencing a medical emergency.
On Thursday, Oklahoma City Councilors Todd Stone and Matt Hinkle joined EMSA Trustees Shane Pate, Wiley Williams, Dr. Jeffrey Goodloe, and EMSA President and CEO Johna Easley to usher in a new era of provider training with the ribbon cutting of SimTEP’s 360-degree immersive simulation room at EMSA’s Oklahoma City headquarters that can replicate indoor and outdoor scenes.
In addition to the simulation room, EMSA SimTEP utilizes state-of-the-art hyper-realistic manikins to create real world scenarios that train EMSA Paramedics and EMTs in a safe and controlled environment.
“SimTEP provides a realistic hands-on experience that will prepare professionals for real-world emergencies. EMSA’s Clinical Educators are very eager to introduce SimTEP to our providers,” said Tina Mathes, EMSA’s Director of Clinical Services.
The SimTEP tools allow instructors to provide real-time feedback, with the hope that trainees will be able to improve their skills on the spot.
“The EMSA SimTEP program is one of the most significant clinical education initiatives I’ve seen in my 15-year career at EMSA. By delivering customized training in ways that strengthen skills, give data-driven feedback, and improve knowledge retention, we will continue to improve upon the excellent clinical care we provide to patients each day,” said EMSA President & CEO Johna Easley.
The simulation room and high-fidelity manikins can replicate an array of emergencies from pediatric drownings to chemical burns.
EMSA will introduce EMSA SimTEP to its Eastern Division Team in Tulsa in 2025.
