Is There an H1N1 Vaccine?

A new H1N1 vaccine is in development and expected to be available in October. This vaccine is to be administered in addition to this year’s seasonal flu vaccine.

The protocol for prevention and treatment for H1N1 is the same as traditional seasonal flu. These include avoiding those with the flu, washing hands regularly, covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing and staying home when you have flu symptoms. Treatment of H1N1 is consistent with traditional flu treatment, including using antiviral drugs. Should you or your children come down with any flu symptoms, contact your doctor as soon as possible.

The CDC is monitoring H1N1 flu and releasing a weekly update of flu activity in the United States. Click here to learn more.
