Poisons That May Be in the Home

  • Cleaning and polishing products

  • Cosmetics

  • Medications- even ones that might seem harmless, such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamins and cough medicine. Some potentially harmful medications come in a tube and a child might chew through the tube

  • Many household plants

  • Cigarettes

  • Batteries

  • Lighter fluid

  • Pesticides

  • Alcoholic beverages

  • Dyes

  • Sprays and aerosols may be swallowed or squirted into the eyes
