Selecting a Destination

Selecting your destination is an important decision. Some of the things you may want to consider first are the weather, temperature, terrain, and type of conditions you want to have at your campsite. This may help you narrow your destination by region and time of year.

Once you have narrowed your search to a particular area, you may want to investigate the types of activities that will be available to you during the time you are there. You should try to find places that offer something of interest to everyone in your family.

After determining a general location, it is important to find out about the facilities available in individual campgrounds. The National Park Service Web site gives details of every facility they operate, throughout the nation.

You may want to start your planning early if a national park is your selected destination. Those parks are popular summer vacation spots and campsites or RV parking sites go quickly.
